2007 sees the 10th anniversary of a group of strangers gathering together with nothing in common apart from Harley Davidson motorcycles. This love of the American brand led to, so far, 10 years of friendship and fun.
The North HOG section started through an e-mail to people on a mailing list from Alvin's Motorcycles in Edinburgh who were contacted by Fred Henderson to meet up and go for a ride together. This formed an unofficial "North Section" of Dunedin HOG, Edinburgh, Scotland, a relationship which was never that strong and is now even more tenuous.
There are still a few Dunedin members but the group also has members associated with the Geordie Chapter, Clyde Valley Chapter, Harley-Davidson Riders of Great Britain and those who are not allied to any official chapter. To this end the "Aurora Borealis Chapter" exists for the rebels who can belong to a "club" with a touch of anarchy, in the nicest possible meaning of the term.
The North section aims to provide a club for Harley-Davidson owners based around the North-East of Scotland and Inverness and it's surrounding area. This is a growing group of enthusiasts and new people are always welcome and should feel free to come along and join in whether they own a Harley or have ambitions to do so. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month apart from January at the Red Garth Hotel, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire. They are STRICTLY informal with the aim of being a social event with as little organisation and as possible and no rules!
Members participate to the extent their other commitments allow. Some attend a few meetings and take part in short rides, other go on longer rides, day trips, weekend rallies and even longer tours. It's a fairly informal group with no committee meetings or officials, things just seem to happen. Click on the items below for more information.
