NORTH SECTION UPDATE
December 2001
AGM
Our North Representative Fred Henderson was in attendance at the AGM and gave us all some feedback of the events. More was gained from guests at the Christmas party and by all accounts it sounded livelier than the usual run of the mill AGM which I've been the victim of.
Hopeful the page has been turned on that book now and that we can all move forward. Change is always unsettling but as I've heard say "Embrace change or it WILL happen without you". Yes the goalposts are on wheels these days but in a few months I'm sure the dust will have settled.
December Meeting
A little quieter than usual this month for some reason and unsurprisingly no bikes in attendance due to the chill. The monthly meeting is now well established in The Red Garth where the landlord (Stuart) makes us VERY welcome. If you've never ventured out to a meeting feel free to pop out and well do our very best to make you welcome. Details below.
Christmas Party
What a tremendous night seemed to have been had by all on the 15th of December at the Ben Mhor Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey. 62 people turned up and scoffed a great dinner, claimed a raffle prize or two and sank the odd dram.
Brian Bonner and Steve Wallace attended from Dunedin HD and we were given a direct update on the progress of the Aberdeen shop right from the horses mouth. During the evening there was ample chance for all to grill them for further info as they mingled with the northern drunkards. Bob Watson also gave us all an update on Aviemore and his plans for future......at least I guess that's what it was because unfortunately I happened to be detained at the bar at the time....sorry chaps!
Our old mate Russ Alminde flew over from the USA and our other colonial cousin Ron Balliet was fresh in from Nigeria/Milan/Outer Mongolia (take your pick) to catch up with news and top up his alcohol level.
The event seems to be moving from strength to strength and over the last two years we have outgrown firstly one hotel and then the original room in the Ben Mhor. Congratulations to Fred and June and all others involved in a great night out.
Aberdeen Shop
Well as stated above we were given an update on the progress of the Aberdeen shop. A little behind what we had heard but latest plans are to have it up and running in late spring all being well. For us Aberdeen folks it will be nice to have something on our doorsteps while the Inverness folks will have a choice of south or east to get to a shop.
Perhaps the location of a shop in Aberdeen may also have a focus where for recruitment to the HOG chapter.
And Finally
Just a final "tata" fae me for the year 2001 And may you all have a great Christmas and prosperous New Year. Here's to 2002 and seeing some of you at rallies and ride outs.
Monthly Meetings
The group meets on the first Wednesday of every Month except January at The Red Garth Hotel, Kirkbrae, Oldmeldrum at around 7.00pm
